About the (un)conference
Intersection is an event which brings together thought leaders and practitioners from the disciplines of publishing, journalism, and technology. Designed to be a day-long "brainstorm", it will encourage open and honest debate about the future of content consumption, application and business models. At a time when both content producers and media owners are undergoing fundamental transformations - driven by consumers and technology - the event will be timely.
The unconference format
Many business conferences can be quite rigid in both their format and schedule. Intersection uses the popular Unconference format, which avoids formal Powerpoint presentations, instead offering informal discussions based in small groups, interspersed with brainstormed presentations and discussions. As the whole concept of publishing becomes less rigid and formalised, an Unconference format lends itself very well to the requirements. It also allows delegates from different disciplines to meet, network and to deeply understand and challenge each other's views. All of this will lead to a truly thought-provoking day.
Organisation
The event is developed and managed by three professionals in the publishing and technology sectors. Padmini Ray Murray is a lecturer at the Centre of International Publishing at the University of Stirling; Ben Werdmuller is a digital media commentator and entrepreneur; and Paul Squires is head of digital at a leading publishing agency.
Delegate profile
Intersection will feature intelligent, experienced, and well-known practitioners from across the publishing, content and business analysis industries, ensuring that the day becomes truly thought-provoking and valuable for all concerned. Following the Unconference format, there will not be an attendance charge.
Date and venue
The event will take place on Saturday 17 April, at a venue to be confirmed in central London.
Sponsorship
We welcome enquiries and discussions regarding sponsorship. As Intersection is an informal Unconference, sponsorship fees go directly to the running costs (venue hire and catering). The following packages are available:
- £1000: exclusivity plus keynote
- £500: co-exclusivity
- £250: co-exclusivity
All sponsors will be credited during the introductions, and will have the chance to display physical items including popup banners and literature if desired. Sponsors will also be credited on the Intersection website, along with a boilerplate, direct links to sponsor websites, and references in the Intersection Twitter feed.
